Accident Investigation Course

Duration: 1 day

Who should attend: Duty Holders and those who have managerial responsibility for Health & Safety in the workplace.

Summary: This course explains how to investigate accidents and incidents at work and, based on real accidents, it includes a practical exercise in investigation skills. It covers legal requirements in reporting injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences (RIDDOR) and defines accidents and incidents (including near misses) and how they are caused. It explains the reason for reporting and investigating accidents and incidents and explains how to recommend improvements to prevent them happening again.

Qualification: Successful completion enables delegates to have knowledge of reporting requirements including what needs to be reported under RIDDOR and how; and gives the ability to deal with accident and incident situations with knowledge of all the procedures needed - investigation techniques: evidence gathering, (observation, examining, documents and interviewing) and report writing.
