Project Management – Asbestos Removal

AEC are ‘Licensed’ by the HSE to project manage ‘Asbestos Removal / Treatment Works’, Licence number 4990304205.

AEC do not remove asbestos, however, we do work alongside Asbestos Removal Contractors on a daily basis and we understand how projects are undertaken to ensure safety for all parties involved.

Asbestos projects can sometimes become very complex, AEC has a wealth of experience in dealing with asbestos removal contractors and projects. We will foresee areas of difficulty before they happen and work with all parties on site to ensure safety and understanding of the asbestos removal process.

If you require ‘full’ project management of an asbestos project AEC would have ‘direct supervisory control’ to:

  • Ensure the work by the asbestos removal contractor is carried out to the agreed method, the Project Manager could alter the way the work is done if necessary to ensure the best interests of the client are met.
  • The Project Manager would have direct control of how the site was used, maintained and how work procedures were carried out
  • AEC would provide an analyst to carry out any analytical works ie. smoke testing to check the intergrity of the enclosures, clearances when the works are complete
  • The Project Manager would ensure that the storage and movement of asbestos waste was carried out to the correct standards.

The Project Manager ensures that your liabilities are taken care of.

AEC can provide an independent view of your Asbestos Removal Programme or give some professional advice.

We prefer to be employed by the client to ensure that there are no conflicts of interest and that we ensure that we deliver the clients expectations. If we are employed by the demolition contractor / asbestos removal contractor – it is usually only in an air monitoring capacity.

BEFORE ASBESTOS REMOVAL WORKS COMMENCE, A PROJECT MANAGER CAN ALSO:

Specify works, formulate a tailor made tender document, analyse and ‘vet’ Asbestos Removal Method Statements, and then and then once work commences, ensure that the service stipulated is conducted and undertaken in a safe and legal manner at a competitive price.

This gives you added confidence, that, as approved experts in this field, we will ensure that the risks associated with any asbestos removal or treatment works are minimised. Therefore that your projects are carried out and completed safely.
