Glazing Assessments for Buildings
Regulation 14 of the Workplace Regulations requires that where necessary for reasons of health and safety, every window or transparent surface within a workplace should be of a safety material, or protected against breakage and be appropriately marked or incorporate features to make it apparent.
AEC have experienced staff and the correct equipment to carry out risk assessments on glazing to determine the thickness and type of glass, and the most appropriate glass for each location. These assessments consider the location of the glazing, activities within the area, volume of people using the area, and whether there is a risk of human contact with the glazing. This is particularly important in areas occupied by children, such as nurseries, schools, etc. Other safety-critical locations would be doors, and glazing at waist level, or below.
