Casual Assistant Surveyor

Job Purpose
As an Assistant Surveyor, the role shall include assisting asbestos surveyors, airborne fibre monitoring and analysis in a range of industrial, commercial and residential properties.
Key Responsibilities include:
Working as a team with other members of the AEC Team.
Assisting the lead surveyor, which includes carrying equipment, drawing sketches of buildings, taking and labelling samples, recording information etc.
Liaising and building rapport with clients/contractors.
Ensure that files/general paper work is filled in correctly and to a high quality.
Develop a professional approach when representing AEC on site.
General administrative/filing duties - where required.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
Work with Microsoft office programs e.g. word & excel to create reports for works carried out.
Attend all mandatory training sessions as required by the AEC.
Competencies/Person Specification:
We are currently recruiting for a number of individuals to work for AEC on a casual basis. Effectively we are looking for individuals who would be happy to work as many hours as required, some weeks this could be full time and others less hours, depending on the needs of the business.
Our ideal candidate can work well under pressure and be flexible. They would also be physically fit able to carry and climb ladders, toolboxes and other site equipment. In addition possess a professional attitude towards work, be punctual, and take a pride in their personal appearance. Adherence to relevant health & safety procedures is a must. You should also be computer literate.
Current driving license and your own transport is essential.

LABORATORY ASSISTANT
Salary: TBD

Job purpose
As a laboratory assistant, you will undertake analysis of bulk samples, inside fume cabinets and using microscopes, to determine asbestos content on materials from a range of products from buildings. The role also includes the generation of certificates, reporting of results, and face fit testing for a number of our clients as well as in-house staff.
Competencies/Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be methodical, pay attention to detail, able to work to deadlines and follow procedures, have excellent communication and organisational skills, have a good telephone manner and work well as part of a team. Applicants must have a basic understanding of Microsoft word and excel.
Experience of working within a laboratory is not essential but would be desirable, as full training will be given to the right candidate. Candidates will be trained to the P401 standard unless you currently have this qualification.
Hours of work 37.5 hours Monday to Friday (flexible to suit the candidate) based in the Manchester office.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Analysis of bulk samples.
2. Liaising with clients with regard to sample results, advice and general queries.
3. Producing reports and certificates detailing the sample analysis findings and reporting this to clients.

Lead Surveyor

Job Purpose
As a Lead Asbestos Surveyor you will undertake surveys following our UKAS quality standards and in compliance with current legislation.
Competencies/Person Specification:
We are looking for an individual who currently holds the P402 and has a minimum of 2 years proven experience and has a full UK driving licence. Ideally, you will hold other P400 qualifications/S301 and be trained in air monitoring but this is not essential.
Our ideal candidate will work well under pressure, work as part of a team, be flexible and willing to work weekends/nights, spend time away from home and work all over the UK.
Hours of work are 37.5 per week Monday to Friday. Start and finish times are flexible to suit the demands of the business.
Key Responsibilities include:
Carry out surveys on all types of commercial and domestic properties.
Entering all information onto PDA whilst carrying out surveys.
Checking and approving reports from the Tracker system and making amendments where necessary.
Fully understand legislation surrounding surveying.
Be fully competent in carrying out different types of surveys – Management and Demolition surveys.
Develop through practical training the assistant surveyors.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
Company benefits include: £20 per night stay away from home allowance, £20 per night shift worked allowance, BUPA & pension scheme, 20 days holiday, Loyalty bonus scheme and extra holidays after qualifying period, Company car/cash option.
