Quality Assurance and Technical Competency
AEC have made a firm commitment to Quality Assurance, and continue to develop in-house quality procedures and systems to meet customer demands and expectations of our business.

To date the following has been achieved:

UKAS accredited to EN 45001 for surveying asbestos in premises (Type C Inspection Body – Accreditation No. 232)
·
UKAS accredited to EN45001 for asbestos fibre counting and identification (Accreditation No. 2054).
·
UKAS accredited to EN45001 for density sampling and gravimetric weighing (Accreditation No. 2054)
·
A participant in the ‘Regular Inter-laboratory Counting Exchange’ scheme (RICE). Since October 1997 achieving excellent results
·
Awarded a license by the Health and Safety Executive as being competent to project manage/supervise asbestos removal works (License No. 2999904205). Since March 1999
·
All air testing performed by AEC is carried out in accordance with MDHS 39/4 ‘Asbestos Fibres in Air’ (Sampling and Evaluation by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) under the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations).
·
All Bulk samples taken will be analysed by dispersion staining and polarised light microscopy in accordance with the HSE method MDHS 77 ‘Asbestos in Bulk Material’.
·
All surveys are carried out and reported to to MDHS 100 ‘Surveying, sampling and assessment of asbestos-containing materials’.
·
Included on the Construction Line Scheme. This is a national database of companies, which have to provide evidence both technically and financially prior to inclusion.

The majority of our Lead Surveyors hold the BOH – S301 P Cert in ‘Asbestos and other Fibres’, all have the P402, BOH Proficiency Certificate of Asbestos in Buildings. A number also have NEBOSH – National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.

The majority of our Assistant Surveyors hold the P402, BOH Proficiency Certificate of Asbestos in Buildings.

For buildings with high elevated areas, a number of Lead Surveyors are trained to operate elevated platforms. Having been awarded the MEWP – Mechanical Elevated Work Platform.
